England Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation

Tim Southee's last Test match for New Zealand was versus England in December 2024.

England bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be during the forthcoming Ashes series in the host nation.

The ex- New Zealand seamer is expected to be available for the first Test due to his involvement in the International League T20 tournament, which begins on 2 December in the UAE.

Southee, 36, assumed a role as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.

Commenting as England's team for the first of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was named, Southee said of his participation: "We're still working through the situation at the present time.

"We'll see what happens over the next little while."

England bowling legend Broad had stated the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over what to expect during the contest, which starts on 21 November.

"I don't think there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," he said.

"The team's attention is squarely on what we're trying to do. I think the caliber of [England's] team that's going out to Australia is excellent.

"It should be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the entire cricketing community is."

But, before England head to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they face New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
