Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his future following a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
