Thrice-crowned MVP Jokic suffers a 'heartbreaking' knee injury.
Three-time NBA MVP Jokic endured a "devastating" knee injury while the Nuggets were defeated by a score of 147-123 to the Heat.
Jokic was hurt in the latter stages of the opening half following an inadvertent contact with fellow Nugget Spencer Jones.
Jones landed on the foot of the big man, who immediately fell to the floor holding his leg.
The veteran player, who leads the NBA season in boards and assists, had 21 points and eight dimes in the game before incurring the injury.
The player will have an MRI scan on Tuesday to determine the extent of the issue.
"Instantly, he understood something was wrong," stated Nuggets coach Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Anyone that gets hurt, that's tough to see, especially a player as special as him. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"We will continue together. Clearly, at this moment, I'm more worried just about him personally and the frustration of experiencing a situation of that nature."
