Uche Fuels Straightforward Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This occasion provided a chance for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were outmatched against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Dominance Established from the Outset

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

The formerArsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
