Vinted Users Share Frustration About Sizing Modifications

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.

Social Media Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Modifications

Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Manual Updates

A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
